On 16 June 2026, the GREEN-LOG Flanders Living Lab hosted its Final Event at LogiVille in Niel, Belgium, bringing together cities, logistics stakeholders, researchers, and project partners to reflect on three years of collaboration and innovation in sustainable urban logistics.

Organised by VIL, in cooperation with the cities of Ghent, Leuven, and Mechelen and the University of Antwerp, the event presented the achievements of the Flanders Living Lab and explored how innovative digital solutions and collaborative logistics models can help cities address growing urban logistics challenges.

Demonstrating the potential of Logistics-as-a-Service

At the centre of the event was the GREEN-LOG Logistics-as-a-Service (LaaS) platform, which was tested and validated in real urban environments across Flanders. Participants had the opportunity to learn how the platform supports more efficient collaboration between logistics operators, cities, and local businesses, while reducing environmental impacts and improving operational efficiency.

The event also provided a platform to discuss key lessons learned and future opportunities for scaling up innovative urban logistics solutions across Europe.

Impressive results from the Flanders Living Lab

The practical demonstrations carried out in the three participating cities generated measurable economic, environmental, and societal benefits:

• Mechelen achieved 55% fewer delivery trips and 29% lower delivery costs through the consolidation of e-commerce deliveries.
• Ghent demonstrated how improved logistics collaboration can help local businesses save time and focus more on serving customers.
• Leuven combined logistics innovation with social impact, giving 1.42 tonnes of surplus food a new destination and reducing food waste.

These results highlight the potential of collaborative urban logistics approaches to support more sustainable and liveable cities.

The results were featured in a number of logistics, transport, and engineering publications, highlighting the potential of collaborative urban logistics solutions to reduce delivery trips, lower costs, and generate social impact.
