GREEN-LOG made a notable appearance at the Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2024, showcasing its recent accomplishments and inventive solutions to researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals in the transportation sector. Under the theme of “Transport Transitions: Advancing Sustainable and Inclusive Mobility”, this foremost European transport and mobility research and innovation conference, took place from 15 to 18 April 2024 in Dublin, Ireland and gathered more than 4,000 stakeholders.
During these exciting four days our partners from Netcompany-Intrasoft, the University of the Aegean, Frontier Innovations, the University of Antwerp, the University of Wolverhampton, and POLIS Network showcased GREEN-LOG scope and achievements throughout a broad spectrum of activities.
Poster sessions
GREEN-LOG project partners from the University of the Aegean and the University of Antwerp provided insights with two poster presentations, one providing and validating a framework for establishing city logistics collaborative spaces, or Living Labs, and another focusing on exploring Logistics-as-a-Service for integrating the consumer into urban freight.
The poster presentations were:
- Establishing Living Labs for City Logistics: Scoping and Initial Outcomes presented by Prof. Amalia Polydoropoulou, University of the Aegean – PS 3.4 Logistics and Sustainable Transport
- Exploring Logistics-as-a-Service to integrate the consumer into urban freight presented by Joris Beckers, University of Antwerp – PS 4.4 Urban, Regional & Rural Transport
GREEN-LOG solutions at the EC stand and outdoor exhibition
The GREEN-LOG solutions being implemented in our Italian Living Lab and demonstrated at the EC Joint Research Centre premises in Ispra were showcased at the EC stand and at the dedicated outdoor exhibition area. In the Ispra Living Lab, we aim to achieve autonomous and multimodal delivery able to support daily activities by increasing efficiency, reducing errors, and decreasing human involvement through the integration of the fleet management system (Yape droid and Measy cargo bike) with the booking system implemented in the delivery platform. The TRA 2024 participants had a unique opportunity to see the Yape delivery droid and the Measy cargo bike, both bearing the GREEN-LOG logo, and learn about their applicability.
Collaborating for greener logistics
As part of a close collaboration among three EU co-funded projects – GREEN-LOG, DECARBOMILE, and URBANE – dedicated to advancing innovative, safe, and sustainable last- mile delivery, a poster titled Decarbonising last mile logistics featuring the solutions being developed by the projects was presented during the poster session PS 3.4 Logistics and Sustainable Transport.
In addition, synergy among the projects aiming to realise zero-emission urban freight transport was prominently featured during a Special Session titled “Innovation in Urban Logistics: Public and Private Sectors Thriving Together” which took place on Tuesday, 16 April. Alongside other CIVITAS Initiative projects such as DECARBOMILE, URBANE, DISCO, SENATOR, and LEAD, the GREEN-LOG’s representative from POLIS Network, Mr. Raffaele Vergnani, shared the project’s concepts and the latest advancements.
GREEN-LOG at the ALICE Innovation Village
GREEN-LOG was proud to have been a part of the ALICE Innovation Village at the TRA 2024 exhibition, alongside 25 other innovative European projects in urban logistics. The ALICE Innovation Village attracted hundreds of visitors, from the industry sector, policy makers, and researchers. Sharing a dedicated pod with DECARBOMILE and UNCHAIN projects, our partners engaged in impactful conversations and presented materials showcasing GREEN-LOG innovations, highlighting the potential impacts of the project and its related work on accelerating systemic changes in Europe to create last-mile delivery ecosystems that are economically, ecologically, and socially sustainable.
The TRA 2024 made it evident that efforts toward sustainable urban logistics are actively progressing. By collaborating and pushing the boundaries of innovation, we’re forging a path towards a future where last-mile delivery is both sustainable and technologically advanced.
